NASIRU TIJANI, Ph.D   Dr. Nasiru Tijani is a fmr. Deputy-Director General and Head of the Lagos Campus of the Nigerian Law School. He attended the University of Lagos where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws (Hons) in 1985. He was later admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1986. Thereafter, he proceeded to obtain his Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Lagos in 1992. He also holds a Ph.D in Law. Dr Tijani is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and a Notary Public for Nigeria.   Dr. Tijani started his professional career in 1986 as a legal adviser to the Irepodun Local Government Area Headquarters. He was thereafter groomed under his mentor, the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN) in 1987 at the Gani Fawehinmi Chambers, before going into private practice. In 1998, he developed his passion for teaching while being employed as a part-time lecturer at the University of Calabar. Thereafter, in 2001, he was employed by the Council of Legal Education as a lecturer at the Nigerian Law School where he works till date.   Dr. Tijani is a legal luminary in his own field having been in legal practice for over 34 years. He has appeared in all Superior Courts in Nigeria. He is an expert in litigation, matrimonial causes, and alternative dispute resolution. He is the author of “Matrimonial Causes in Nigeria-Law and Practice”, a leading authority on family law in Nigeria. He is also a co-author on “Constitutional Law in Nigeria”. He has published several articles in local and international journals. He has served as an editor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria Law Reports and the Failed Banks Tribunal of Nigeria Law Reports. He is currently an editor of the Federal High Court Law Reports and the Nigerian Banking Law Reports. He is presently a consultant for Konrad Adeneur Stiftung, an organisation supported by the Federal Republic of Germany where he advises on the “Survey of Overlapping Mandates of Security Agencies in Nigeria”.   He is a member of the Nigeria Association of Law Teachers,  Nigeria Bar Association, African Bar Association, International Bar Association, International Society for Reform of Criminal Law, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), a governing council member of the Chartered Institute of Legislative Drafting Lawyers and Practitioners, London (UK) and an advisory board member for the Institute for Transnational Arbitration (USA).
